Originally founded in 1793 as the Hamilton-Oneida Academy, Hamilton consists of a 1,350-acre hilltop campus overlooking the New England-style Village of Clinton, New York, in close proximity to the Adirondack Park. The College’s open curriculum gives students the freedom to tailor their own liberal arts education within a research- and writing-intensive framework. The highly selective college enrolls nearly 1,800 students. Hamilton operates like a small city, but has the feel of a close community. Students come to campus to get an education, of course, but Hamilton also provides a multitude of dining, housing, entertainment, fitness, recreation, religious and social options. The resources are amazing for a population of 1,800.

Hampshire College CTCL

Admissions Contact: admissions@hampshire.edu
At Hampshire, your education focuses on personalized, independent work, close collaboration with faculty, and hands-on experience through study abroad, short-term field studies, internships, volunteer work, advanced independent projects, and much more. Students learn to be producers and creators of knowledge, rather than passive consumers of information. Hampshire students engage in substantial independent research and creative work as they explore the questions that most concern them (rather than simply responding to questions posed by teachers). Hampshire’s learning process is active, collaborative, inquiry-based; discussion-rich, project-driven, writing-intensive; challenging, pushing students beyond what they think they can achieve.
Hampshire is Multidisciplinary The curriculum at most colleges is organized around traditional academic disciplines, such as biology, history, or mathematics, in separate departments. This departmentalization of subject areas artificially fragments the curriculum and disconnects ideas that are inherently linked. Learning at Hampshire doesn’t end in the classroom. Students live their educations, creating new knowledge, art, and approaches relevant to the challenges of today and tomorrow.

Kenyon College is one of the nation’s finest liberal-arts colleges, a close-knit community of talented students and outstanding teachers. Kenyon’s reputation rests on a tradition of academic rigor and creative achievement, but its essence lies in the way personal contact shapes daily experience on its historic and scenic campus. Students know professors as teachers, advisors, collaborators, and friends, while professors know students as individuals–their strengths, aspirations, and potential for success.
